Lecturers and staff

This page introduces all lecturers and staff involved in 'Leadership for Engineers'.

Hans de Bruijn

Hans de Bruijn is Professor of Public Organization and Management at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of Delft University of Technology. In spring 2015, Hans ran his first MOOC on framing (Frame101x) where students learned how to debate and create powerful political messages. Enthused by the enormous success of Frame101x, Hans has combined his most successful concepts about leadership from his lectures in this ProfEd: Leadership for Engineers. He will present an interesting perspective on leadership in a networked world, with deep uncertainties - a perspective with oftentimes counter-intuitive concepts.

Gerdien de Vries

Gerdien de Vries is Assistant Professor Organisation and Public Management at the department of Technology, Policy and Management. Gerdien received a Ph.D. in Behavioural Sciences from Leiden University and has published scientific articles on effective and ineffective leadership. Furthermore, she teaches courses on management and organization and conducts experimental research on the effects of influence and persuasion. She was on the course team of the DelftX MOOCs Frame101x and LfE101x.

Haiko van der Voort

Haiko van der Voort is an assistant professor at the department of Policy, Organization,Law and Gaming, Faculty Technology, Policy and Management of Delft University of Technology. His research is about governance and decision making on norms across organizational borders or across functional borders within organizations. He teaches organization theory, decision making theory and regulation theory to bachelor students, master students, and professionals.

Jet Pagnier

Jet Pagnier received her Masters degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Amsterdam for her thesis “Gacaca Tribunals. Justice and Reconciliation in Rwanda?”, based on fieldwork research into the aftermath of the 1994 genocide. After this she made a career switch and studied acting in London. She has played several roles in Dutch television and film productions. Her interest in politics is currently manifested in her work researching a well known Dutch anti-apartheid activist for a screenplay. Combining her passion for acting, teaching, and a fascination with human behaviour and communication, she also works as a trainer and actor for business, using acting and theatre tools to help people learn and create insight into behaviour, communication, and culture.

Arjan Kindermans

Arjan Kindermans is an actor, director and change facilitator. He studied acting at the theaterschool in Amsterdam where he discovered the power of the versatile language that theater is. With his work as an actor, director and drama teacher he developed the skills that enabled him to start his own company, called Ander Licht (Different Light) in which he uses theater and acting to facilitate significant culture-change and improved cooperation in organisations.

Arjan has specialized in improvisational theater & acting and uses this to facilitate interactive meetings where people design their own future. He found that words don’t suffice to create long lasting development and is always looking for new powerful ways to interact with groups of people that have an urge to improve the way they work together.

He has played in a number of stageplays, films and television series. Besides that he is a passionate jazz saxophonist and an avid yogi.

Stephanie van den Boogaard

Stephanie van den Boogaard is a master student in Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management at the Delft University of Technology. She is involved in this MOOC as a member of the course team on the content and implementation in edX. Stephanie has previously worked as research assistant on both DelftX MOOCs and on campus education. Stephanie is interested in structuring, analyzing and advising on solving complex socio-technical problems; problems which need leadership skills to solve! Furthermore she is really interested in the development of personal leadership, since this can be a great help for the start of her career

Jasper Meijering

Jasper Meijering is a master student in Engineering and Policy Analysis at the Delft University of Technology. He is involved in this course as a supporting course team member. He is co-responsible for developing and implementing content on EdX, promoting the course and managing the student community. Jasper is an alumnus of the YFEL Leadership program of Masdar University. He holds aCETT scholarship from the Dutch Energy Topsector. In his study, he is interested in developing innovative modeling and simulation tools to come with policy recommendations for the energy sector. Effectively implementing these recommendations requires an understanding of how socio-technical systems with many different actors with sometimes opposing interests operate, therefore he is interested in the field of Leadership for Engineers.

Yaron Hendriks

Yaron Hendriks is a bachelor student at Delft University of Technology following Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management. As a member of the course team he is involved in both the organization and the implementation of the content on EdX. Yaron thinks the world is in need for great leaders with an engineering background. He is interested in the development of the technology sector and shares the idea of high-tech companies gaining power, making the need for engineers as leaders with an engineering background bigger.
