How to engage with other students in the course
This course uses Discussions -- so that you can engage with other students, with instructors, and with the course teaching assistant!
There are a few main ways to use Discussions.
1. Weekly Discussion-Based Activities
Each week, you will have the opportunity to engage with other students around that week's content. To receive credit for completing the activities, you must read the instructions carefully, complete the tasks, indicate that you've completed the tasks by responding to the participation questions, and answer any comprehension questions associated with the activity. Your three activities with the lowest score will be dropped--this means that you can receive a low score on up to three discussion activities, and it will not affect your overall grade.
2. Course-wide Discussion Forum
There is also a course-wide Discussion Forum, which you can access by clicking "Discussion" at the top of the course screen.
This is the place for you to ask general questions about the course (under "General Course Discussion"), or to report technical issues with the platform and ask for assistance ("Technical issues"). We've also created general course discussion boards for speakers of Spanish, Portuguese, and French, in case you want to discuss the course in those languages, trade language specific-resources, etc.
3. Q&A Sessions
Throughout the course, we will announce Q&A sessions with instructors and guest lecturers. We will ask you to submit your questions in advance by posting them on the Discussion Board. See the Q&A Sessions tab for more information.
