Dear PFMx Participants,
Welcome to the online Public Financial Management course (PFMx) offered by a team of experts from the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund. This course is designed to strengthen participants' ability to assess why PFM is important to support macroeconomic stability and economic growth, and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. It covers all stages of the budget cycle — from its preparation to the government's accountability in its execution.
Over the next eight weeks, you will explore these topics through video lectures, relevant readings, examples from countries at different stages of development, and testimonies from senior policy-makers and other stakeholders.
Throughout the course, you will also have opportunities to engage with your fellow participants from around the world and with course staff through the discussion forums. You will also be able to track the progress of your understanding through assessments and a case study at the end of the course.
Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the information we have provided in this overview section. You will find the answers to most of your administrative questions about this course here.
All assessments are part of your grade.
We are pleased to have you in the course. The course team is committed to providing you with a useful learning experience where you can improve your knowledge and understanding of how to assess a country's PFM institutions.
Thank you for joining us, and good luck.
