What are the technical requirements for taking a course on edX?

You need a computer with an Internet connection. We also recommend that you use the most recent version of any the following web browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer (version 9 or later).

Can I access the course through my phone or tablet?

To access the course through your phone or tablet, download the edX application from Google Play or the Apple Store. Alternatively, from the web browser on your mobile device you can go to https://www.edx.org/ to get access to the course and many of its resources.

This is my first time taking a course on edX. How do I navigate through the virtual platform?

EdX provides navigation instructions for its courses. These instructions are available at the Demo Course and then click on Enroll Now. Once you log into your account, the instructions will be available in your active courses section under Demo Course

Do participants have to be connected to the virtual platform at specific times?

No. There will be no online classes with a specific time at which the participants have to be meeting simultaneously. The course platform will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, each participant will be responsible for carrying out the activities within the time periods stipulated. 

What should I do if I have technical problems with registration or accessing the course?

Many of these issues are caused by problems with the web browser. We suggest you try the following:

Download and install the latest version of Chrome or Firefox to your computer.

Make sure that your browser configuration is set to enable cookies and JavaScript.

How do I change the language in my edX configuration?

Go to https://courses.edx.org/login and start a session using the email address and password that you used to register in edX. Once you log in to your account, your username and an arrow will appear in the upper right portion of this window. Click on the arrow and choose Account. Then go to the Language section to change to your preferred language.

How do I change my email account registered in edX?

Go to https://courses.edx.org/login and start a session using the email address and password that you used to register in edX. Once you log in to your account, your username and an arrow will appear in the upper right portion of this window. Click on the arrow and choose Account. Then go to the Email Address section to change your email.

I made a mistake when writing my name and I want to correct it before my certificate is issued.

Go to https://courses.edx.org/login and start a session using the email address and password that you used to register in edX. Once you log in to your account, your username and an arrow will appear in the upper right portion of this window. Click on the arrow and choose Account. Then go to the Full Name section to change your name. Please remember that if you are going to edit your full name that change needs to be done before the course finishes in order to avoid problems with your certificate.

What do I do if I forget my password?

Go to https://courses.edx.org/login. You will see a Forgot Password option under the password field. Click on this link and enter the email address you used to register with edX. An email will be sent to that address with instructions for resetting your password.

How can I delete my account?

It is not necessary to delete your account. An unused account without any courses associated with it will automatically disappear from edX.

What do I do if I encounter problems visualizing tools on the screen or watching videos? 

Please, verify the configuration of your browser. JavaScript must be enabled. We recommend that you download and use the latest version of Firefox or Google Chrome. 

What do I do if my technical support question is not answered here?

Please visit the Participant Support site. There you will be able to ask your question. 

How to ask a question on the participant support site?

Enter the Participant Support site, fill in the required fields (email and description of the problem), and attach a screenshot to see the problem in more detail if applicable. Keep in mind that the response time is 24 hours for weekdays and 48 hours on weekends.

How can I find the UTC (Universal Coordinated Time) conversion for the time zone in my country?

Below are the UTC conversions and the time zone of some cities, which will serve as a reference for finding the equivalent with the time zone in your country:

How do I know when I complete an activity or assignment?

In the progress bar, you can review the grade obtained in each of the activities. The blocks having a pen and notebook indicate that one or more activities there will be graded. The blocks that have a blue pencil and notebook indicate that one or more activities there will have a grade. The grading activities are the evaluation questionnaires and the participation in the forum activities. Make sure you complete all the activities before the end of the course.
