The discussion forum can be a great tool for learning, a place to share ideas, to ask questions, and to support other students. If you are not familiar with edX course discussions, read the discussion guide for students.
When posting in the discussion
• Do NOT give away the answers when posting a question or responding to others. Such posts may be deleted by course staff.
• Before posting a question, first search to see if your question has already been asked so that course staff can focus their time on new questions.
• Each page shares a common discussion, so the subject line of your post should specify the topic or problem to which you are referring. For example, “Don't understand MSB" or "Problem 1A."
• Write responses in your own words and correctly cite when referencing the work of others.
• Disagree politely. Write, "Have you thought about it this way?" rather than, "You're wrong. Here is the right way to think about it."
• Remember that English is not the primary language of many students. Avoid the use of slang or abbreviations.
• When responding to content related questions please provide guidance and hints that will help people to figure out the problem on their own (rather than giving a direct answer). For example, instead of writing "Your x should be a y,” you might write "try reviewing the video on binary numbers."
• Please limit your posts/responses to 200 words or less.
• Please use the upvote feature if someone has already posted a question that you also have or for an answer you think is especially good.
• Please use the blue star to follow a post.
• If you see an inappropriate post, flag it instead of adding your own commentary.
• Any technical questions or concerns should be posted in the Technical Questions Discussion.
