Course Assessments
This course contains video chapter questions, discussion activities, and a Final Reflection. Verified learners also have access to a midterm exam, as well as an extra step for the Final Reflection.
VERIFIED LEARNERS: the midterm exam counts for 50% of your final grade, and the Final Reflection counts for the other 50%. You must pass with a 70% or above to receive your Verified Certificate.
Whether or not you are pursuing a certificate, you are encouraged to complete all of the assessments, as they are your opportunity to gauge how well you understand the material. Each video chapter will have a series of corresponding comprehension questions. You will have two attempts at each question if it has multiple answers, and only one attempt if the question has only two answers or is true/false. Discussion activities ask you to engage with the content in a new way, and give you the chance to discuss it with your fellow learners.
Midterm Exam (Verified Learners only)
There will be a midterm exam following Module 5. Whereas the chapter questions assess your understanding of the lecture videos, the midterm exam will ensure that you understand the concepts covered in Modules 1-3 and can apply them to real-world questions. Please remember:
- You will be allowed only two attempts to select the correct answers for multiple choice and “check all that apply” questions.
- You will be allowed only one attempt at the correct answer for True/False questions or multiple choice questions with just two answers.
Final Reflection
At the end of the course, you will be asked to write a short reflection on what you have learned and what actions you intend to take to combat climate change in your work, home, community, etc. The Reflection involves two steps: 1) Writing your own reflection and 2) Responding to another person's post.
VERIFIED LEARNERS must complete a Step 3: Completing the Participation Questions that follow the Discussion Board. You must answer these Participation Questions in order to receive credit for completing the Final Reflection.
