GRADING AND POLICIES


ACADEMIC POLICY

You must agree to behave with academic honesty and respect your fellow students.
Please follow the edX Terms of Service & Honor Code in this course.


COURSE CONTENT

This course consists of the following:

      • Lectures: Each week of the course, 1h-1.5h lecture videos divided into short video clips are provided. You can find the weekly topics in the course syllabus.
      • Check Your Understanding: You are sometimes expected to answer these quizzes which will be graded.
      • The final exam: will be provided and graded.
      • Discussion Forum: Discussion forums are great tools to learn from one another. Please post your questions and thoughts, and share your opinions.

NOTE:  The term “Week ”is used to indicate the length of time allocated for the topics listed in the original BIO101x course.


WORKLOAD

We anticipate students spending 4-6 hours per week, depending on background.


GRADING

Your final grade will be calculated:

1. Check Your Understanding:  60% in total (12% per Week)

During this course, there will be self-check questions (Check Your Understanding) associated with most of the course videos. 

2. Final Exam:  40% in total


GRADING SCHEME

Pass (60% or higher)

Fail (under 60%)


DUE DATE

You can work on the course at your own pace.
The deadline for all assignments and exams is MARCH 20, 2018, 23:59 UTC.


VERIFIED CERTIFICATE

This course does not offer an honor certificate, as is the case with most edX courses from 2016 onward. 
You do however have the option to purchase a Verified Certificate


COMMUNICATION POLICY

Please DO NOT send e-mails the instructor and/or course staff directly. Instead, discussion forums are great tools to post your comments and questions. Your posts will be periodically monitored by TA and course staff; however, owing to a large number of students and limited resources, we may not be able to answer all questions. We would appreciate your understanding.
