Launching Innovation in Schools Graduate Credit for US Educators

via MITx,  EdTechTeacher, and Framingham State University

General Information:

Through a partnership between MITx, EdTechTeacher, and Framingham State University, we are pleased to offer the opportunity for U.S.-based, practicing educators to take an extended version of this course to earn one (1) transferable graduate credit from Framingham State UniversityEdTechTeacher is a professional learning consultancy founded by Justin Reich and Tom Daccord. The graduate credit will be provided by Framingham State University. MIT does not offer graduate credit for independent courses for educators. 

Services Provided by EdTechTeacher:

As a student earning graduate credit in the course, you’ll get additional support, assignments, and feedback from EdTechTeacher staff. You will receive:

  • EdTechTeacher instructor feedback on in-course assignments
  • Ongoing communication from ETT instructors 
  • Feedback on an extended final assignment
  • Rostering of transferable credit from Framingham State University

Cost:

To take the course for graduate credit, participants need to earn a verified certificate in the course and pay the $49 fee to MITx, pay a $225 fee to EdTechTeacher, and pay the $75 credit fee to Framingham State University—the total cost is $349.

Registration and Payment Procedure:

Because there are three organizations partnering on this pilot opportunity, there are three parts to registering and paying for the course. 

  1. Register for a Verified Certificate in the course by following instructions in the edX platform. 
  2. Register (using the same email address) to join the EdTechTeacher Graduate cohort by navigating to our Eventbrite page and paying the $225 fee
  3. Once you receive confirmation from EdTechTeacher, you’ll need to complete the Framingham State University Registration Form and mail the $75 credit fee to Framingham State University to:

Refund Policy:

  • For the edX refund policy, see here.
  • Framingham State University does not offer refunds.
  • EdTechTeacher policy is the same as the edX refund policy: a full refund is available to anyone up to 14 days after course start or payment, whichever is later. 

Requirements, Key Dates, and Expectations:

To enroll in the graduate credit cohort, you need to be a U.S.-based educator currently working in a school or district setting, PK-12 through higher education. If you have any questions about eligibility, please email help@edtechteacher.org, and either Avra Robinson, Director of Online Learning for EdTechTeacher or her team of instructors will be available to answer questions or help as needed. 

To successfully earn the graduate credit in the course you will need to:

  • Register to earn a verified certificate by October 24, 2017
  • Register for the graduate credit cohort by October 24, 2017
  • Earn a verified certificate by completing all required regular course activities and assignments by November 16th
  • Complete an additional final graduate credit assignment with satisfactory grade by November 30th
