Description

This course encourages you to explore existential themes in your personal and your professional life. The course will help you to develop strengths and counseling skills to improve your well-being and the well-being of others.

Prerequisites

  • Anybody who cares about well-being and meaningful living can benefit from this course.
  • Therapists motivated to deepen the existential/experiential layer of human functioning can enrich their approach.

Duration and Work Load

The course is a self-paced course and will be available from October until the end of June.

This course offers you a high degree of flexibility. You can follow the content in sequence or choose to complete sections in order of interest to you. Be aware that it would be realistic to spend 6 to 8 hours on each section. The course will be available for 9 months and you can follow your own rhythm in studying and practicing what is offered in each section.

Grading

This course is graded through 2 types of evaluations: assessments and interaction forums.

The assessments contain a set of multiple choice and multiple answer questions. Each section has one assessment subsection so in total there are 9 assessments.

The interaction forums are scored through two multiple choice questions asking you whether you answered the questions and/or if you commented on someone else's answers. Each section contains 3 interaction forums so in total there are 27 interaction forums.

The assessments count towards 40% and the interaction forums count towards 60% of the your total score.

The passing grade for the course is 65%.

Course Structure

The course consists of 9 sections.

Each section is structured in a similar way:

  • Introduction with an introduction video, learning targets, the approach in the section and the relationship with other sections
  • Three subsections with the actual content of the section each with a separate interaction forum
  • Assessment
  • Extra info with optional recommended books and websites
