What is the schedule for the course?
You have until the end of the course to complete all of the required assessments.
How do I pass the course?
In order to pass the course, you need to complete all Check Your Understanding Questions (40% of your grade), and Moral Dilemma Polls (60% of your grade). You need to get an average of a 60% to pass the course. If you have paid for a Verified Certificate, you will also receive a certificate when you pass the course.
If I am a verified learner and I pass the course, when do I receive my certificate?
All verified learners who pass will receive the certificate within a week of posted deadline. Even if you finish the requirements for a certificate well before that deadline, you will receive your certificate.
How do the Moral Dilemma Polls work?
For each poll question, you first vote on what you think is the right choice and then you give your rationale defending that choice. After you give your answer, you will be presented with rationales both for that choice and the other choices and you choose the rationale that you think is best.
How are the Moral Dilemma Polls graded?
The polls are graded based on completion; there is no correct answers for the polls.
Is there an assigned book I have to buy?
No, there is no book you have to buy. Each lesson in the course contains readings that will help you continue learning about the topics and questions that are raised in the course. Please note that graded assessments do not rely on any of the reading content. Recommended excerpts from Professor Sandel's books Justice: What is the Right Thing to Do? and What Money Can't Buy: The Moral Limits of Markets are also noted in the course, although not directly provided as downloadable content. If you are interested in purchasing these books, there are several places that sell them, including Amazon.
I caught a bug or error in the course. How do I contact the teaching team?
Please contact edX if you have any logistical issues with the course.
