Welcome
If this is your first time on the edX platform, we suggest you take a look at the tutorial Demo 101 which will guide you through the navigation and study functions.

Self-Paced
This course has not specific start and finish dates, specific release dates for individual lessons and deadlines for the tests for students on the certificate track. The course requires an average of 6-8 hours’ study per week. There are two assessments; a mid-term test based on the lessons in the first half of the course and a final exam based on the material in the second half of the course. Multiple-choice questions are selected at random from the question bank and passing the assessments will contribute to achieving the 70% mark required to get a certificate.
Please remember that the mid-term test and final exam are only available to those students who opted to do the verified certificate track. Students on the Audit track may be offered alternative practice tests.

Certificate
This course offers a Verified Certificate. If you would like to include this course on your CV or use it to boost your online profile, then you may prefer to work towards a certificate. .
The edX certificate demonstrates that you have successfully completed the course and verifies your identity by uploading a photo and identity document. It is a way to motivate learning and recognize your achievement. You can monitor your progress on the Progress Page. If you followed the Verified Track procedure, then you can get your certificate directly from your user area. You can still follow all the lessons even if you did not request a certificate, or if you decide to do so later on in the course.
This course is part of the Program “Introduction to Political Science IPSAMOOC”. We invite you to look at the other courses in the IPSAMOOC program.

Additional content
Some lessons may offer supplementary study material like articles or links to online resources. You can find these materials both in the lessons and in the Supplementary Materials section (when available).

Discussion forum
We would appreciate your contributions to enrich the learning experience. So if you need any clarification, post your questions on the forum and we will do our best to answer. The first step is to use the Forum to introduce yourselves and to discuss how you are getting on with the course. We encourage you to make active use of the forum, to ask us and other students questions, and to discuss issues raised by the lessons. We ask you not to share the answers to the quizzes, however.
Forum posts could be not regularly monitored by the course staff. In view of the number of students in the online class, it may not be possible to answer all your questions. We thank you for your understanding.

If you have problems with the course, use the Discussion area to explain your problem. If you have technical needs, please use the Help button to send a message directly to the edX Technical Support team.
