Annemiek van Boeijen

Annemiek van Boeijen is assistant Professor in industrial design and design aesthetics. She conducts research on the role of culture in design processes. She also teaches design and is co-editor of the Delft Design Guide. She will help you reflect on your experiences with this course through the course forum and the ‘sofa sessions’.

Jaap Daalhuizen

Jaap Daalhuizen is assistant Professor at the Delft University of Technology. He conducts research in design methodology and design thinking. He is co-editor of the Delft Design Guide. He will be your host during the whole course, taking you from week to week as you experience the Delft approach to design.

Paul Hekkert

Paul Hekkert is Professor of form theory. He conducts research on the ways products impact human experience and behavior. He is co-author of the book ‘vision in Design – a guidebook for innovators’. He will introduce you to a number of basic principles that underlie the creation of meaningful products.

Pieter Jan Stappers

Pieter Jan Stappers is Professor of design techniques. He conducts research on tools and techniques for the conceptual phase of design. Key elements in his work are 'research through design', 'experiential prototypes' and the ‘contextmapping’ methodology. He will introduce you to some of the basic principles and tools related to contextmapping.

Jelle Zijlstra

Jelle zijlstra is design teacher and practicing designer. He teaches design and design didactics at the Delft University of Technology and heads the Man and Mobility department at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. He is co-editor of the Delft Design Guide. He will introduce you to the basics of formulating a problem definition and list of requirements.

Matthijs van Dijk

Matthijs van Dijk is Professor of applied Design and founder and partner of Amsterdam-based design consultancy Reframing studio. He teaches automotive design amongst other things. He is co-author of the book ‘vision in Design – a guidebook for innovators’. He will introduce you to a number of basic principles that underlie the definition of a meaningful design challenge.

Carlos Coimbra Cardoso

Carlos Cardoso is assistant Professor in Design Theory and Methodology. He conducts research on problem solving, creativity, design fixation, user-centered design and usability. He will introduce you to a number of basic principles and methods that underlie the generation of ideas.

Stefan van de Geer

Stefan van de Geer is design teacher and course coordinator. He is responsible for the honors track for students of the Industrial Design Engineering program at the Delft University of Technology. He will introduce you to the basic principles that underlie concept development and evaluation.

Koos Eissen

Koos Eissen is associate Professor and heads the drawing department at the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. He is author of several very successful books on sketching and sketching techniques. He will introduce you to some of the basic principles that underlie idea- and concept-sketching as a generative technique.

Jan Buijs

Jan Buijs is Professor in Creativity & Product Innovation. He conducts research in management of product innovation, creativity and multi-disciplinary design and innovation teams. He teaches strategy, brand and project management, creative problem solving, innovation and integrated new product development. He is author of many books on product innovation. He will introduce you to the general Delft Innovation model to put some of the things that you will have learned in this course in perspective.
