This course uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

Are there any prerequisites?

A professional or student in the health or biological sciences, with a mathematical background at high-school level.

How do I pass the course?

In order to pass the course and receive certification, you need to complete all the assessment questions in each week, including the final assessment in week 6, before the deadline on 21 September 2016.

A passing grade of 70% or higher is needed in order to pass the course and receive certification.

What kind of certificates are there for this course, and do I have to pay?

EdX offers verified certificates, which are available for a fee that varies by course. For HSD101x, the fee is $49 (USD). You will be required to verify your identity before you can receive your certificate. You can also audit any edX course, including HSD101x. You do not receive a certificate if you audit a course, but you can print your progress page for the course if you want evidence of your achievement.

Please note that if you want the Verified Certificate, you must choose it and complete the ID verification process by 21 September 2016. 

You must complete all of the weekly assessment questions by the course end date 21 September 2016, and achieve a passing grade of 70% or higher, to pass the course and earn a Verified Certificate.

When are assessments due?

All assessments are due by the course end date, 21 September 2016.

When does the course end?

HSD101x officially ends on 21 September 2016 and certificates will be generated sometime in October 2016
