Pre-tutorial problem pdfs are posted each week on Connect.

Tutorial worksheets are posted each week with the other Module materials (look in list on the the left of the Courseware page ).  But be careful - we initially post the worksheets from last year, because the final editing of this year's worksheet isn't completed until after the weekly TA meeting for that module.  The final worksheets are posted on the Monday just before that week's Tuesday tutorial.

Things to do once:

Sign up for Useful Genetics Part 2.  (Since you're reading this you're already signed up for Part 1.)

Midterm:

Write the midterm. It will cover the Part 1 material. It is scheduled at 5:30 pm on Thursday October 29, in Hugh Dempster Pavilion room 310. It will be open book; you can bring any non-electronic materials.

Final exam:

Write your final exam. It will cover all course material (Parts 1 and 2). It will be scheduled and written in December with the other UBC exams.

Things to do each week:

Here on edX you should:

  • Watch the videos
  • Try the practice quiz at least once
  • Discuss the material and the questions in the Discussion Forums

On the UBC Connect site you should:

  • Download the pre-tutorial problem for that module and bring the completed problem to your Tuesday or Thursday tutorial
  • Submit the graded quiz before its Sunday midnight deadline (after the tutorial on that module).

On the UBC Calibrated Peer Review site you should:

  • In weeks with a peer-explain assignment, submit your response to the question, or the required evaluations
  • At the top of this page you'll find a pdf with instructions for using the UBC Calibrated Peer Review system.

Tutorials:

    • Attend the tutorial and hand in the pre-tutorial problem and the end-of tutorial learning check so they can be grading.  If you must miss your scheduled tutorial you can attend a different one, but let both TAs know.
