FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This FAQ will be updated with commonly asked questions. If you have a question, please check here first to see if it’s already been answered.

  1. Who do I contact if I experience technical issues with the course platform?

If you are having problems with the course platform, such as video streaming issues, content not displaying correctly, or trouble accessing the course or your account, please email MITxPRO@mit.edu. Questions will be turned around within 36 hours or less.

  2. What if I have questions about course logistics, such as deadlines?

Please read through all of the instructions. You may be tempted to scan information quickly, but you will find that thorough instructions have been provided to prepare you. If your question is not answered, please post a question in the Discussion Forum. We have a TA team working throughout the course. Post your question in the Ask your TA section of the discussion forum for the module your questions relate to.

  3. What if I have content-related questions such as clarification around one of the terms or graded activities?

Please post your question to the section of the Discussion Forum for the module your question relates to. Fellow students often answer questions quickly and/or one of the TAs will chime in.

  4. How many hours per week will I have class or homework?

There are approximately two hours of video every week. You will spend additional time on practice questions, graded assessments, readings, solving case studies, and participating in the discussion forums. Most participants will spend about four hours a week on course-related activities.

  5. Do I need to watch all of the videos to pass?

MIT xPro does not track your ¨video watching¨progress. However, we encourage you to watch all videos because they provide essential information that is necessary to complete the course graded activities and graded case studies.

  6. Do I need to finish the course requirements by a certain time each week?

There will be two peer-reviewed graded Case Studies in the course that need to be finished by a specific date (in Weeks 5 and 7). There are eight graded assessments due by the end of the course. Please refer to the Course Schedule for due dates for each of the activities. Note that the edX platform uses Universal Coordinated Time (UTC). Please convert the time accordingly to your time zone to deliver the graded activities on time. There are no exceptions or extensions.

  7. Is it okay to work ahead of schedule?

Yes, you can work faster than the pace outlined in the Schedule. However, part of your work in Weeks 5 and 7 is tied towards grading other students' assignments. Most students will not work more than a week ahead; therefore, you may need to complete the peer assessments for Weeks 5 and 7 during the corresponding week's assessment window.

  8. Where do I check to see my current grade in the course?

To view your current course completion status look at the "Total" column in the course PROGRESS tab. Keep in mind that the 70% pass rate is across all graded activities/assignments, and is your overall average grade for the course. Since the course is pass/fail, there are no letter grades.

  9. When will I receive an MIT Professional Certificate of Completion and Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit?

Participants who successfully complete the graded activities and achieve the 70% pass rate will receive an MIT Professional Certificate and 1.8 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) credit the day after the course ends.
You will be able to view and print your Certificate from your Dashboard (access to your Dashboard by clicking on your username). Before the course ends, make sure your "Profile" information reflects the correct spelling of your name.

  10. How long will the course material be available online?

Participants will have course access for 90-days after the course ends (including Videos, Discussion Boards, Content, Practice Questions, Graded Assessments, Case Studies, Student Directory, and Resources). Please note that we are unable to extend access to the archived course beyond the close date. Facebook and LinkedIn unmoderated groups will remain live after that period.

  11. Can I cancel or transfer my registration?

Cancel Registration: Cancellation requests must be submitted to MITxPRO@mit.edu. Cancellation requests received after October 27th, 2017, will not be eligible for a refund.
