Professor of Railway Engineering

During this course, Professor Rolf Dollevoet will give a weekly mini-lecture series, related to the main topic for that specific week. In addition, you can ask him questions on anything related to railways by using the forum: 'Ask the Professor'. Every second week, we will select a few of your most relevant and interesting questions, and then in weeks 2, 4 and 6, a video of Rolf's responses will be posted.

MOOC Course Designer

In 2016, Rolf Dollevoet and Joris van Dijk developed a vision and approach for a new online education series on Railway Systems Engineering, of which this MOOC is the first course to go live. Joris designed the framework, assembled a team of senior academics and working professionals, and has managed the program, in which over thirty people have participated. He has developed new learning tools and features, aiming to the increase interaction within online courses in an accessible and exciting way.

Joris van Dijk

Joris van Dijk finished a double Bachelor degree in both Built Environment and Building Management in 2010, and received his MSc title in Architecture at TU Delft in 2014. He initiates and coordinates a wide range of new projects on research innovation and education in close corporation with our academic partners and business relations.

For this course, Joris developed the serious game on railway asset management, the promotional film on the complexity behind a daily train ride (awarded Best Corporate Film 2017) and the interactive world map.

Joris' goal is to bring practice, research and education closer together, on both national and international scale, strengthening each other towards a continuously innovating environment.
