No, you will automatically earn the Business Analytics MicroMasters program certificate when you complete the four courses. There are no restrictions of the sequence you have to take nor take them in the same semester.
Q8: Can I see the quizzes and assignments to decide if I want to upgrade to the verified track?
Only verified track can access to the graded assessments. However, edX has a full refund policy within 14 days. You can “sample” the course using the grace period. Click here to learn more about the edX refund policy.
Tip for audit track students: do not wait until the end of course to upgrade to the verified track. This course is designed to be project-based. It is strongly suggested to upgrade early so you can have more time to work on the projects.
Q9: I have already paid for this course, but would like to do it in the summer session instead (May-August) how can I get transferred onto that?
You can request to transfer to the summer course run during the summer course registration period 3/1/2021-3/15/2021. A survey will be sent out from the course team.
Please note that when your spring courses are transferred to the summer session, no current academic record will be carried over.
Q10. On the webpage of the program this course belongs to it says it's retiring soon. Will I be able to have 1 year to finish the entire program?
This course and this program will retire soon, and the last course run will be the coming summer session starting on 05/31/2021 to 08/30/2021.
Unfortunately, you do not have 1 year to finish the entire program, but you will have the current spring session and the coming summer session to finish the entire program. Please note that all courses that are being offered as an instructor-led with specific deadlines. Each course is 13-week long courses (12 weeks of content + 1 week of final exam) which means learners are expected to finish the courses they have registered within 13 weeks.
The spring session started on 2/1/2021 and will end on 5/3/2021.
The summer session will start on 5/31/2021 and will end on 8/30/2021.
If you have enrolled in the program, please feel free to plan your study pace accordingly. If you want to move some courses to summer session, we can definitely do it for you. Please expect our email in early March to help you transfer. However, if the current spring session and the upcoming summer session is too short for you to finish the program, you can ask for refund via edX help. Please check this link for the refund policy.
Please feel free to check out the MicroMaster retirement plan FAQ page , and let us know if you have more questions.
Q11. How can I register for summer courses?
We will send out a survey to ask for your intention to enroll.
When changing enrollment, the course grades and submission records will not be carried over. Also, you will become an audit track learner in spring once you have transferred from the spring to the summer course.
Q12. When can I register?
There are two times you can register for the courses. Filling out the survey is the only way for you to register for the summer course.
The window open for enrollment is:
Click here to start your registration: MM Summer Registration form
3/1/2021 00:00 UTC - 3/14/2021 23:30 UTC
5/3/2021 00:00 UTC - 5/15/2021 23:30 UTC
Q13: Will I have access to the course after it is archived?
Verified track learners will have access to the course videos after the course archives/retired. However, quizzes and assignments will not be available for submission after the due dates.
Q14: How will I know if I enroll into the course successfully?
The registration will take one week to process as we need to manually register all learners into the summer course. The summer course will be shown on your edX dashboard after 3/19/2021 or 5/24/2021. If your course doesn’t appear on your dashboard, you can reach out to the staff on the discussion forum.
Q15. Can I still earn the certificate if I request transfer to the summer?
If you decide to transfer a course to the summer, you will not be eligible for the certification in the spring, as you will lose access to all the graded assessments in those course(s) in spring.
The requirement to earn a certificate are listed below:
(1) Earning a passing score of total 60
(2) Enrolled in the verified track
(3) Take the final proctored exam
Therefore, transferring your course(s) to summer will change your enrollment status and thus delay the timeline of receiving a certificate.
Q16. Why should I consider transferring to the summer course?
Many learners have registered more than one course in the spring semester, so we decided to offer the summer course run to provide learners an extra semester to reasonably allocate their workload.
Q17. If I am concerned that I would not have enough time to work on the courses and want to defer them to the summer, shall I transfer?
If you are concerned that you do not have enough time to work on the course(s) in the spring, our course staff still strongly suggest you to keep trying in the spring term rather than transferring to the summer. First, it is normal that you might feel worried about passing the courses(s), but we would encourage you to plan the study schedule, utilize the learning resources (course materials, staff and classmates) and work towards the end of the course.
Historically, we have learners successfully completed the course within less than 6 weeks. In addition, there are practice exams to help you get prepared for the final.
Therefore, we highly recommend you stay in the spring semester rather than transferring to the summer semester. Once your course(s) have been transferred to the summer session, the summer session is the only and the last chance for you to take and to earn the certificate.
Q18. If I fail to pass the course in the spring semester, would it be possible to enroll in the summer session again?
If you would like to retake the course in the summer, you can sign up for the summer course during the enrollment period, 5/3/2021-5/15/2021.
You will enroll in the course as an audit track and upgrade by yourself as you wish.
Q19. Can I transfer to a different course?
To request a transfer allows you to move your current verified track enrollment to the summer session.
That says, if you request to transfer the BAMM102 course to the summer,
- You will automatically become an audit track learners in the spring BAMM102
- You will become a verified track learners in the summer BAMM102
We do not allow you to transfer to a different course. And you will lose the course progress and access to the graded assignments in the spring session.
