§1 GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT THE COURSE
1. I just enrolled but I see that the discussions have already begun. Am I too late?
A. New participants are welcome at any time! But check the syllabus to see where we are in the course so you can be right along with us in the discussion forum.
2. When is work due? Are there deadlines?
A. The schedule is flexible for participants working towards a BUx/edX certificate. If you are working towards a certificate, simply work at your own pace to complete the assessments by the closing date.
3. How do I earn a BUx/edX certificate?
A. All participants who achieve a cumulative total of 60% or greater on all assessments can earn a verified certificate. Certificates will be issued after the course has been completed.
4. How can I see my current scores and what I've submitted?
A. Look under Progress in the Navigation Menu at the top of the page.
5. Where will important news and updates be posted?
A. Be sure to check Course Home Page frequently. Important news, updates, and corrections will be posted here throughout the project. There is also the Course Outline feature in this location to help you navigate the course.
6. When does this course end?
A. The closing date is December 5th. However, the course will still be available in an archived version. This means you can access the content but the discussion forums and assessments are not available. In addition you cannot receive a verified certificate for an archived course.
7. Where can I find additional readings?
A. You can find readings under Bibliography in the Navigation Menu and Further Reading and Endnotes at the end of each chapter.
8. What is BU Leads?
This is where we introduce course participants to Boston University and have videos of many ethical leaders within the BU community.
9. What is the final project?
A. You are expected to develop a final project proposal applying the Ethical Leadership Toolkit to a specific issue related to the practice of ethical leadership. An integral part of the final project for this class is the application of the Ethical Leadership Toolkit. This is optional for folks not taking the course for a verified certificate.
§2 MEDIA
1. How do I watch the videos?
A. You can access all the videos in each section as they appear in the course sections.
2. I've been asked to provide a screen shot. How do I take a screen shot?
A. For a Mac: press command + shift + 3 This will take a snap shot of your entire screen and place a copy on your desk top. For a PC: Use your “Print Screen” [PrtScn] Key. This will save a screen shot to a designated location on your computer. Many helpful tutorials are available online.
§3 PROGRESS and SCORES
1. What work is scored?
A. There are 4 types of assessment in this course. If you go to the syllabus they are all described and a rubric is provided for your information on scoring.
2. Is participation in the Discussion forum required?
A. Participation in the Discussion section is optional for those seeking a verified certificate. However since it is part of the assessment it means you are automatically dropping 15% of your grade if you are pursuing a verified certificate.
3. What score do I need to earn a certificate?
A. Participants who achieve a total score of 60% or greater will earn a verified certificate. However, you must register with BUx in the classroom to sign up for the certificate and pay the fee.
4. Can anyone besides for me see my Progress Page?
A. Only staff members will have access to your Progress Page.
